Herping Trail at Adpai Phonda

Our first Herping Trail at Adpai Plateau, Ponda was an unforgettable introduction to Goa’s vibrant nocturnal world. As the forest came alive after sunset, we encountered an incredible range of wildlife — including five Saw-scaled Vipers, a Common Wolf Snake, Bush Frogs, Tree Frogs, and many other fascinating night-active species. Each sighting reminded us how rich and complex these landscapes truly are, even after dark.

One of the most striking moments of the walk was discovering a dead Lesser Adjutant, a sobering yet powerful reminder of the fragile balance these ecosystems maintain. Experiences like this reinforce why such habitats deserve careful observation, respect, and protection. This trail marked an important milestone for Wild Footprints — the beginning of many journeys into the hidden, wild side of Goa.
